Note to Parents: The biblical principles and concepts in the upcoming series beginning next week are very important for adults and students to grasp.  However those same concepts are rather difficult for children to comprehend.  Therefore preschool children will hear about the life of Moses as they learn that God is always with us and that He wants us to love Him.  The children will learn that they can show love to God by obeying Him and by loving others.  Elementary kids will focus on the virtue of Determination—deciding it’s worth it to finish what you start.

1's - K's: God Takes Care of Elijah

Scripture: 1 Kings 16, 17:1-6

Children heard the Bible story of how God took care of Elijah, even though there was no food in the land after King Ahab disobeyed God.  They learned that God takes care of us.

3-K's Memory Verse: "God cares for you."   See 1 Peter 5:7b

Grades 1-5: Day Job

Paul lists those he’s thankful for • Romans 16:1-19

Virtue: Gratitude—letting others know you see how they’ve helped you.

Know What: Children will hear the parable of the vineyard workers who were all paid the same wage even though some worked longer than others.

So What: What God chooses to give each of us is his own business; we should just be grateful for whatever we get.

Now What: Children will be encouraged to not let their attitude spoil their gratitude.

Memory Verse: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”  1 Chronicles 16:34, NIV

Bottom Line: Take time to remember how others have helped you.
