Spiritual Growth

There's nothing more important to the leadership of Central than our spiritual growth. That includes the spiritual growth of the whole church family and each member within our family. As they’ve pointed out, “If I don’t grow, we don’t grow; and if we don’t grow, I don’t grow.”

Our elders are committed to making spiritual growth a focal point of Central's culture the highest priority in 2008. During this year we will emphasize two points which are important for each individual to understand as we all take ownership to growing spiritually.

First, spiritual growth is most likely to occur when we are intentional about it. That's why we are providing a Spiritual Growth Assessment and recommending resources to help you take your next best steps to growth. We encourage you to set aside a few minutes to take this assessment, then use it to help identify which season you are in spiritually – Sit, Stand, Walk or Run. Once you identify the season that most applies to you currently, review the suggested resources for that season, then make a plan for taking your next steps toward personal spiritual growth.

Second, spiritual growth happens best while living in relationship with other Christians. Seek out people who share your faith. Talk about where you are spiritually, what you have planned your next steps to be and invite others to hold you accountable. Share your failings and successes. Most importantly, consistently pray and encourage each other along the way. Central's LifeGroups are probably the best place for spiritual growth to be fostered. As you “do life” together, supporting one another’s journey of faith is a natural by-product of caring for one another. If you’re not currently in a LifeGroup and would like to know more, please contact Paul Backer, 846-1230 or chat with an elder in your community.
